What Is Oolong Tea?

What is Oolong Tea? Oolongs are a category of specialty teas from Southern China and Taiwan, that are partially oxidized teas. Think of them as the malty, woody and smoky middle ground between a green and a black tea.

Our oolong tea is sourced from Wah Tea Estate in Palampur, India. Wah Tea Estate was established in 1857 by British planters. Decades of a thriving tea industry was met with a major earthquake in 1905 and the British planters left. The estate was taken over by Sir Sikander Hayat-Khan who named the estate after his hometown of Wah which directly translates to ‘wow’ which is exactly how we feel about sourcing Oolong and white peony from them!

Wah is a 4th generation family-run tea estate, still run by Khan’s family today. They are 100% hand-picked, pesticide free, weedicide free, and they only use original Camellia Sinensis bushes. Oolong from Wah have a depth. and carry with it the flavor and aroma unique to the Himalayas and we’re happy to be apart of their journey and bring them to you.
